We are very excited to have Minster FM onboard with Carnival this year and we can’t wait to have their very own Breakfast presenter, Chris Marsden opening Carnival. He’ll be around throughout the day introducing our fantastic acts and giving away some great prizes such as a family ticket for a cruise with York Boat.

Parade Workshops

The lovely outreach girls will be on King’s Square from 10am the morning of Carnival. If you haven’t been able to attend any workshops so far – don’t panic, you can come along and get involved in the creative mask making. Don’t Miss Them!!!

York Carnival Goes Wild on Sunday 6^th June!

In the latest jungle news; York Carnival plans are near completion. Vines and creepers already threaten to transform York into an urban jungle of festivities and frivolity. We’ve been behind the scenes to bring you an exclusive, sneak peek into Carnival plans!

Carnival Chair and Queen of the jungle, Bethan Cornwall, informed us that “there’ll be craft workshops at Cubs’ Corner in King’s Square from 10am. Anyone can come along and get ‘junglified’ for the Parade with face paints and mask making. The Parade will leave the Minster Gardens at 1.00pm and wind through the streets of York to end at the Lion’s Den, our main stage on Parliament Street.”

We’ve seen the programme for the day, and it looks pretty impressive. The other stages are; The Oasis, an exclusive dance area, The Bee Hive on King’s Square. There’ll be performances by York Rotters, the Brownies, Fusion, Samba Band with Capoeira as well as big bands, glee singers and cheerleaders! For more adventurous explorers, the Workshop Jungle on St Sampson’s Square provides an exciting opportunity to take part in dancing, drumming and more!

Hi everyone, so the York Carnival Website is finally here. This site will tell you everything you need to know about this year’s event. You can find out who is performing and where, what activities will be going on during the day and how to get involved.

So far a lot of effort has gone into the preparation of this year’s Carnival and we aren’t stopping yet. Sponsorship is continually coming in and we are still signing up acts for the day and recruiting people for the parade. York Carnival aims to showcase the talents of the local community and students from both universities and in doing so provide an action packed day of fun and entertainment for the wonderful residents of York.

Over the years Carnival has grown in popularity and support and we want to keep that up this year. There are so many opportunties for everyone to get involved and put their ideas forward – after all this event is all about you!!

All that’s left now is to enjoy the website, so go ahead and dive into the jungle, we’ll see you in there.
