Get Involved

York Carnival would like you to be involved in this year’s event.

The Carnival takes place in the city centre and attracts thousands of people into York each year.  It gives both University students and local community groups an opportunity to showcase their talents.

This year we are looking for people to showcase their talents in any of our 3 performance areas.  We also hope people would like to get involved in the Parade. You could be dancers, singers, actors; we even had pole- dancers last year! If you are a part of a society or group of any kind, we would love to hear from you.

If performing isn’t for you, or if you would like to be involved behind the scenes, then we also need people to help organise the Parade and the Youth Stage. We welcome any volunteers who can help with the workshops in the weeks leading up to Carnival.  This is the time where we go into schools and help the children to make costumes for the Parade and to create performances for the new Youth Stage.

We are also having an area on Parliament Street where we are offering people the opportunity to have their own stall, to run activities or do some fundraising of their own.

Finally we need Carnival stewards to oversee the parade route as well as being based at the different stages and activity areas.

If you’re interested in getting involved in any way, then send an email to Bethan at contact@yorkcarnival.org
